When shopping for an amplified telephone, it is important to know how
much amplification you need in order to comfortably and effectively
communicate on the telephone. To help you choose the phone that best
fits your needs, we have developed this color scale indicating the
amplification range of each telephone and for whom each phone is
MILD HEARING LOSS:
Optimal Amplification Range: 15dB - 30dB
Symptoms: Voice on the other end is a little muffled, miss a few words during the conversation but you can manage to get through it, strain to hear the words being spoken on the other end.
MODERATE HEARING LOSS:
Optimal Amplification Range: 30dB - 45dB
Voice on the other end is frequently muffled or unclear, ask person to repeat what they just said frequently
SEVERE HEARING LOSS:
Optimal Amplification Range: 45dB and greater
Symptoms: Frequently can not hear people speaking at all during conversation, do not use or answer phone because it is too difficult to communicate
